Lazy Lizard Guest Comments

Spacious, comfortable, clean & so relaxing! We had a wonderful three night stay at the Lazy Lizard and will definately go back again. The rooms are ver large and have everything you need to be fully self contained. A great pool area with BBQ, tables and chairs. The whole complex is kept very clean and tidy and the patio area outside each room is very relaxing. Fantastic hosts, friendly and only to willing to assist with bookings or in any way they can. Great place.

Friendliest Hosts your will ever Meet! This is our second trip back to the Lazy Lizard Motel. The hosts are the most friendly, attentive and helpful people. The motel itself is immaculate. The rooms are large and bright and very clean. The pool and area around it are very well maintained. There is a guest barbeque area and a nice seating area. The motel is in a nice quiet area but close to everything. It also provides a very good tour desk (lots of information and helful suggestions). One of the surpises was that this motel had an ice machine. We travelled for 6 weeks in Australia and this was the only motel that had one. We can only say that we would recommend the Lazy Lizard to all of our friends and family.

A place where miracles are created -- This is a nice cozy place nestled on the side of the highway that leads to Port Douglas. Room was very reasonably priced and roomy. The owners are a nice couple who will help set up any tourist activities and help a traveler find interesting things to do while visiting.

Good choice -- Really good sized rooms and good value. Friendly staff and the continental breakfast was a bonus. Would certainly use again.

Very highly recommended. We stayed one night at this lovely motel. The room was large and had everything we could have asked for, including comfortable beds, plenty of pillows, great light, quite elegantly furnished, very thoughtfully stocked kitchenette and a bathroom with a separate bath (fantastic for small kids). They even supplied complimentary continental breakfast (ie delivered the ingredients to our room the night before, so that we could make it at our convenience in the morning). The pool was also lovely (if a little cold at that time of year!). We found the owners to be very friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night, but could easily have imagined spending longer at the Lazy Lizard, and would have no hesitation staying there again.

Average Motor Inn - Good Value and Location. This motel is exactly what you should expect in a motor inn. It has large, reasonably clean rooms and includes a continental breakfast. The location is good, our room had a kitchenette and all guests have access to a barbecue. My only complaint would be the laundry facility. I would not use it. It cost us A$16 and two plus hours to wash and dry one load of clothes. The owners knew the machines were slow and expensive, but didn't mention it until we came back for change the second time.

Yes, it's not fancy but its a great place to stay -- We stayed one night at the Lazy Lizard Inn because this is one of the few places, in Port Douglas, that will accommodate one night stays. We had just come back from 2 days in Cape Trib and wanted to spend one more night in Port Douglas to go on one more trip to the Barrier Reef before leaving Queensland. Yes, the Lazy Lizard Inn is your typical motel. The room was very nice, extremely clean and comfortable. It felt brand new. (We stayed in Room 3). The entrance is a sliding door that faces a parking lot. The decor is basic motel with tiled floors and wicker furnishings but I liked it alot. The bed cover was very attractive (if that stuff matters to you). There is a kitchenette with a fridge and coffee maker. Coffee and milk is provided. The only drawback is that the motel is not that close to the town center. It's about a 5 to 10 minute drive.

Great place to stay good rates! A great motel, good size rooms with kitchenette, sitting area, shower and bath also patio and undercover parking. Great little pool, quiet location just out of town. Only downsides, no cooked breakfast available but continental provided free. Wifi was intermittant in room. Overall exe lent.

Forget the fancy and pricey resorts; stay HERE! This is the perfect motel. Great managers (Leslie and Bernie), great facilities (laundry, pool, internet, small kitchen in each room), and great location. Why stay at one of the fancy resorts when you can come and go as you please at the Lazy Lizard and have great support/help from Bernie and Lesley.

We stayed one night and then came back through a week later for two more nights. The rooms are large --we fit two adults and two children with plenty of room -- and very clean and spiffy. Bernie and Lesley answered our zillions of questions and helped us manage our travel needs all with a smile.

The location is about a 15-20 minute walk to the main part of town; much shorter if you are going directly to the beach.

Port Douglas is mostly a resort and tourist town. We used it soley as a jumping off point to the Barrier Reef. Otherwise, there are many more interesting towns and places up and down the coast. That said, the Lazy Lizard and the job that Bernie and Lesley do there make it highly recommendable.
